Red Stag Deer

Red Deer (Cervus Elaphus) were introduced to New Zealand by the British in 1851. They produce very large antlers and are regarded by hunters as amongst the best in the world.

In New Zealand, Estate stags have superior antlers to the wild deer found on public land throughout the South Island. This has been achieved by crossing NZ Red Deer with European bloodlines.
They are recognised for their size and class and New Zealand has produced some of the biggest Red Deer heads in the world.

In fact the 2011 – 2013 Red Stag World Record was held by a hunter who shot a stag on a nearby farm.
