My wife and I went to New Zealand to celebrate our 10th anniversary. My wife (never hunted before) indulged me and allowed me to take a short break and hunt with Karl and Viv Perkins at Flax Hills. We were so happy They put forth every effort to make sure we had a first class experience, were patient with my inexperience and were so pleasant to be around. My wife commented that Viv was superwoman. She’s an incredible cook and her attention to details made our stay there outstanding. The location was just breath taking – the natural beauty is almost overwhelming. The hunt was an amazing experience.We saw so many stags and it was so much fun trying to decide which stag would be the trophy of a lifetime. Seeing him peer over the hill with his incredible rack silhouetted against the sky was just surreal. We slowly stalked him and at 187 yards shot and killed him. I was fortunate to take a beautiful fallow deer later on that day as well. It was definitely the most memorable day of hunting I have ever had. Thank you to Karl and Viv for such a great time. If you are looking to hunt red stag in NZ then you owe it to yourself to seriously consider Flax Hill Hunting Estate. We do not regret choosing to hunt with them and are certain you we made that decision. The Perkins and their children were such a joy to spend time with.
